The Cipherpod Black is uniquely keyed, so that in the unlikely event someone over the Internet manages to overcome the onboard security and deconstruct the Cipherpod Original’s HMAC key, these devices will be unaffected. This is for multiple Cipherpod Black units that all have the same key – please contact us to let us know how many you need with the same key.
- Good: Every unit is uniquely keyed
- Bad: If all of these devices are destroyed, lost or stolen, you will never be able to reproduce the passwords generated by it, and we do not keep records of devices sold so we cannot provide a replacement. If you encrypt a computer or hard drive with this device and all units are lost or destroyed, the data is absolutely, assuredly and completely unrecoverable, ever.
